Manohara River Corridor Works Begin


The construction of Manohara River corridor has resumed.

The project aims to address the traffic jam along the Lokantali-Jadibudi-Koteshwor route in Bhaktapur.

The project stretches from the Manohara River along the Pepsikola-Sanothimi road section to the Jadibuti Bridge of Araniko Highway.

Federal parliament lawmaker and former Minister Mahesh Basnet had taken initiation to launch the project and he also made efforts to resume it. Now works have begun towards Bhaktapur, project’s Manoj Bhetwal said.

As said by Basnet’s private secretariat Dinesh Thapa, lawmaker Basnet had apprised Bhaktapur’s new Chief District Officer Prem Prasad Bhattarai about the situation and showed concern to resume it.

Earlier, a discussion among the lawmaker, CDO, Madhyapur Municipality Chief Madan Sundar Shrestha, ward chairs of Madhyapur 1 and 2, ward chair of Kathmandu-32, chiefs of district-based security bodies, contractors and stakeholders concerned reached an agreement on resuming the project by clearing existing hurdles.

The meeting agreed to follow the river course as per the 2021 BS mapping during the construction.
