Farmers who hijacked the trucks carrying chemical fertiliser at Dharke on Saturday have said that they were informed by the merchants of the trucks and the fertilisers.
It is revealed that the merchants informed the farmers of the fertiliser which was taken under control by the department of revenue investigation as it was brought evading the customs duty so that the merchants could save themselves.
Locals said that over 400 farmers faced with an acute shortage of fertiliser came to the road to hijack the truck and loot the fertiliser.
Merchants are blamed for black marketing the fertiliser brought without paying customs duty at the local markets in Dhading.
A team of the Armed Police Force was said to have taken under control the trucks laden with the fertiliser on Friday evening at Kurintar.
However, Jageshwar Bhandari, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) at the Dhading District Police Office, said that the fertilizer was taken under control by the department of revenue investigation and that the same fertilizer was looted by the farmers.
He said the DRI would initiate the probe process and that no one was arrested for looting the fertilizer.
