More local level representatives of the CPN-UML have joined the newly formed CPN (Unified Socialist) in many districts across the country.
In Kavre, 56 local representatives of CPN-UML have identified themselves as the member of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Socialist).
According to District Election Office, Kavre, Mayor of Mandandeupur Municipality Tok Bahadur Waiba, Deputy Mayor of Namobuddha Municipality Ram Devi Tamang and vice-chair of Bhumlu Rural Municipality Kalpana Shrestha have chosen CPN (Unified Socialist).
Similarly, 11 ward chairs and 42 ward members have switched to the newly formed party led by Madhav Kumar Nepal.
The CPN-UML had won 344 seats in Kavre while Nepali Congress (NC) had secured 221 seats and NCP (Maoist Centre) 21 seats.
Likewise, in Kalikot, 65 representatives joined the new party.
According to our Kalikot Correspondent, 65 local representatives who had won the election from CPN-UML have shifted to CPN (Unified Socialist).
According to Kalikot Election Office, 65 representatives including two Rural Municipality chairs, a vice-chair, a deputy-mayor and 12 ward chairs chose CPN (Unified Socialist) as their party.
Our Jumla Correspondent reported that 44 local representatives had identified themselves the members of the CPN (Unified Socialist) in Jumla.
A total of 11 ward chairs, vice-chair of Sinja Rural Municipality, and 32 ward members switched to the new party, informed the District Election Office, Jumla.
Similarly, Syangja Election Office registered seven local representatives as the members of the new party.
Guru Prasad Marashini, district election officer, said, “Within the time stipulated by the Election Commission, seven representatives including a vice-chair of Rural Municipality shifted to the new party.”
Meanwhile, none of the local representatives from CPN-UML in Solukhumbu have left their party. The District Election Office informed none of the representatives visited the office in the given deadline to register themselves in the CPN (Unified Socialist).
According to CPN-UML, Solukhumbu, there are 125 representatives from the party in the district.
The Election Commission had provided 21 days for provincial assembly members and local representatives to identify themselves as the member of CPN (Unified Socialist) at the provincial and district election offices respectively.
The deadline for identification ended on Tuesday, September 7.
