More Than 100 Villages In Bajura At Flood And Landslide Risk

More than 100 villages in the district are in high risk of flood and landslide due to the incessant rains over the last some days.

The District Administration Office, Bajura said over 116 settlements in all the nine local units in the district are at risk of landslide and floods.

The District Disaster Preparedness and Response Plan, 2077BS states that 116 villages in the district are at risk. The plan was prepared by the District Disaster management Committee, Bajura.

The locals have voiced that the families living in these settlements have to be shifted to other safer places.

It is stated in the Plan that 332 families of 14 villages in Khaptad Chhededaha Rural Municipality, 971 families of 13 villages in Triveni Municipality, 625 families of 25 villages in Budhiganga Municipality, 10 villages in Budhinanda Municipality, three villages in Jagannath Rural Municipality and nine villages in Swami Kartik Khapar Rural Municipality, five settlements in Himali Rural Municipality and 15 villages in Badimalika Municipality are at high risk.

Similarly, 332 families of 21 villages in Gaumul Rural Municipality are also at high risk of flood and landslide, and have to be relocated to safer zones, the District Administration Office said.

Assistant Chief District Officer, Samir Bhandari said the district administration is constantly in touch with the local governments and the bodies concerned regarding disaster response, preparedness and management works.
