Nagarik App Integrated Govt Services Possible Now


Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli Sunday formally launched the ‘Nagarik App,’ with the motto of government service at your fingertips, on the occasion of 4th National Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Day.
On the occasion, Prime Minister Oli also opened bank accounts with Nepal Bank Limited and Siddhartha Bank Limited through the app by scanning the QR code managed in the App.
“The Nagarik App has been developed with the aim of providing all government services through a single app,” said Prime Minister Oli.
The App now has the facility to get permanent account (PAN) number, open bank account, pay vehicle tax, update KYC, get police clearance report, view details related to health insurance, Citizen Investment Trust, Employee Provident Fund and educational certificate.
Joint Secretary and spokesperson at the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology Shova Kanta Poudel said that other government services will also be added in the App gradually to provide all services from one single App.
The Prime Minister expressed confidence that the use of the App would be an important link in achieving the government’s goal for a corruption-free Nepal, freeing citizens from the hassle of carrying documents to government offices, making government work faster and maintain transparency.
“I am confident that this App, which allows you to get government services online from home, will bring about a momentous change in the improvement of public services in Nepal,” he said.
He also informed that the capacity of data centres at Singha Durbar has been increased and construction of data centres at Khumaltar in Lalitpur and Kohalpur in Banke has been started as per the concept of building data centres in all the seven states to keep the data of all citizens secure.
“Free Wi-Fi hotspots have been set up in important public and religious places, and the process of implementing the concept of automation system and paperless government in government offices has been started from today,” said Prime Minister Oli.
Other apps of the government like Hello Sarkar for public grievance handling, portal for monitoring and measuring the progress of policy programmes, PM Action Room for monitoring the progress of development work, Nepali Port for state-of-the-art traffic record system in immigration, National Identity Card can also be viewed from the Nagarik App.
Similarly, foreign online labour approval system, online consular service, vehicle consignment tracking system (VCTS) to prevent revenue leakage, public access model, land information system, Mero Kitta app, digital soil map, have been successfully enlisted in the Nagarik App with the use of information technology.
The government will also gradually integrate the work and services to be provided by the local levels in the App, and introduce online payment for paying taxes to the government.
Prime Minister Oli also gave special instruction to the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology to operate and manage this App in a sustainable and effective manner.
According to the MoCIT, the App has already been downloaded by 500,000 people, and personal details and documents like PAN number, citizenship number, passport number can be uploaded if one has their mobile number registered in their own name.
