Minister for Home Affairs Bal Krishna Khand Wednesday said the five-party alliance would continue as the present government was formed from the coalition.
“The government and the ruling Nepali Congress is always in favor of giving continuity to the present coalition,” Minister Khand said at a press conference organized at his own residence in Rupandehi.
All doubts and questions have been ended regarding the timely conduction of the election scheduled for May 13, Minister Khand said.
“The government was committed to conducting the local level polls in a free, fair, and independent manner and on the stipulated date,” Minister Khand.
The central committee meeting of the ruling NC had already endorsed the decision to go for the polls forming an alliance that had supported the formation of the Deuba-led government, Minister Khand said.
He said that his party was committed to moving ahead forging the agreement, and cooperation among the parties.
“The government, especially the Home Ministry, had already formulated a special security plan for the polls as the elections this time was going to happen in a day,” he said. Under the security plan, the government will also give emphasis on air-based operation and patrolling with the use of Nepali Army helicopters alongside others from the private sectors to control any
untoward incident, Minister Khand said.
The government was holding a series of dialogues with some fringe political parties including the Communist Party of Nepal led by Netra Bikram Chand
‘Biplav’ to get them to participate in the election, Minister Khand said.
The government was in touch with the Election Commission Nepal (ECN) to arrange an easier and
friendly environment allowing the fringe parties to manage their election symbol, their candidacy and
registration of the party, Minister Khand said.
The ECN was also found positive in this regard, he said.
In a separate context, Minister Khand said that the government welcomes the decision of the judiciary after the Supreme Court issued a stay order in favor of the suspended governor of the Nepal Rastra Bank.
Minister Khand also urged all the NC leaders and cadres not to engage in unnecessary criticism of the alliance of the five-party that was formed to form the government led by the party president Deuba.
