Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has welcomed the Supreme Court’s verdict over the writ petition filed against the dissolution of the House of Representatives by five parties including NC.
Issuing a press release today, NC President Deuba said that the verdict has further increased trust and faith towards the independent judiciary, whose verdict has brought the Constitution back on track.
He congratulated the political parties who joined the agitation launched for the protection of democracy and the Constitution in different ways, legal prosecutors, sister and well-wisher organisations, media houses and all Nepalis inside and outside the country.
Mentioning that the SC’s verdict has made everyone responsible to work with patience and unity for the welfare of the nation and the people, President Deuba has urged one and all to move ahead utilizing this opportunity for the welfare of democracy, Constitution and the country and the people, not take it as personal victory and defeat.
The SC, conducting the hearing on different writ petitions against the decision of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to dissolve the House of Representatives on May 22, today delivered the verdict to reinstate the House of Representatives, saying the HoR dissolution was against norms and values of the Constitution.
