Nepal Can’t Be Used As Int’l Flight Transit

The government has put restriction on every foreign passenger and international flight entering Nepal by making Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) just as a transit route.
Following a decision of a Cabinet meeting held Monday evening, the Department of Immigration issuing a notice on Tuesday, stopped all international airlines from using Nepal as a transit owing to increasing cases of the COVID-19 infection abroad.
“Making Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) of Kathmandu as a transit is restricted for an indefinite period as thousands of foreign nationals started choosing TIA for going to the third country,” Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, Director General at the Department of Immigration, said.
The decision will come into effect from midnight on April 28. “The department took the decision keeping in view the new variant of COVID-19 and the restrictive order issued in the Kathmandu Valley from April 29 as the risk of coronavirus is increasing,” said Bhattarai.
The Department has, however, mentioned that there is no such restriction implemented to have other international flights from abroad which make Nepal their final destination and to go abroad from Nepal.
