Nepal confirms fourth case of coronavirus


A fourth case of the novel coronavirus disease has been confirmed in Nepal, as per a media report by the Ministry of Health and Population. The patient, a 34 year old male tested positive for COVID-19 following a test conducted by the National Public Health Laboratory.

The patient is said to be in normal health, exhibiting mild symptoms.He is currently placed in isolation, and undergoing treatment at Seti Zonal Hospital, Dhangadhi.  He recently returned from Dubai. The date of his return, or his flight number have not been shared. The Ministry has said they are awaiting further details as well.

The patient had shown himself to the hospital on the 24th of March, 2020, wherein he had been admitted. His results were confirmed today – after a gap of 3 days, possibly due to the lockdown, and lack of flights/transport to send the swab to Kathmandu on time.

The Ministry of Health has also said that the ‘virus seems to have spread outside the valley, making it all the more necessary to follow the lockdown, and take precautionary measures’. The announcement was made via live Facebook feed.
