Nepal Police bids farewell to temporary police recruits (Myadi Prahari) on Thursday as the election of the House of Representatives and provincial assemblies have concluded.
According to the integrated security plan of the government, a total of 115,000 temporary police personnel were selected for the November 20 elections.
Physically and mentally fit Nepalis aged 18-54 years were selected for the temporary post of police on the basis of different training criteria from respective district police offices.
Similarly, former security personnel, those with security experience and previous temporary police were prioritized for selection.
The temporary policemen will be provided Rs. 34,760 for 40-day service during the elections.
They will also receive Rs. 7,200 as ration allowance, Rs. 6,000 for uniform (additional Rs. 1,000 in Himalayan districts), Rs. 1,000 for transport and a snack allowance of Rs. 300 per day for four days.
Hence, the total remuneration, including bonus, for 40 days work Rs. 50,160.
Nepal Police had received a budget of NRs. 7.994 billion for the elections’ security, of which, Rs. 5.86 billion was appropriated for Myadi or temporary police personnel.
