Over 100 temporary police face action


Nepal Police Headquarters, Naxal, Tuesday said that 125 temporary police (myadi) hired for the November 20 elections faced action for breaching election code of conduct.

According to Acting Police Spokesperson and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dan Bahadur Karki, 105 men and 20 women temporary police were subject to action for breaching the code of conduct since they were enrolled in the job.

“Temporary police personnel who work against the code of conduct have faced the music,” he said.

Most of them have faced action for taking alcohol while on duty, he said. Action was taken against them after warning them several times.

According to SSP Karki, there are 53 who faced action in Province 1, six in the Kathmandu Valley and 10 in Bagmati Province.

Similarly, 31 in Gandaki Province, seven in Lumbini Province, seven in Karnali Province and 11 in Sudurpaschim were punished.

The government had hired 115,000 temporary police as back up force for peaceful election.
