Over 28,000 Nepalis repatriated from 25 countries


More than 28,000 Nepalis have been brought back home since Nepal’s repatriation efforts began last month.

According to a press statement of the COVID-19 Crisis Management Centre (CCMC), on Wednesday alone 593 people landed in Nepal. Of them, 17 were U.S. staff who came via Malaysian Airlines at 11:30 a.m.

Excluding the 17 U.S. staff members, the number of total rescued Nepalis reached 28,108 as of July 15, according to the CCMC spokesperson Dr. Jageshwor Gautam.

On Wednesday, 151 Nepalis were repatriated from Singapore and Australia, 166 from UAE, 141 (Sharjah) from Qatar, and 118 from UAE (Dubai).

Of the total rescued Nepalis, the highest number hail from UAE with 6,091.
