Butwal Sub-metropolitan City on Tuesday established an oxygen bank in Butwal amid the shortage of oxygen all across the nation for the treatment of COVID-19 patients.
It has been said that oxygen along with cylinders would be stored in the bank which would be provided only in critical situations.
A total of 100 cylinders have been collected in the bank on the same day it was established.
Mayor of the sub-metropolitan city Shiva Raj Subedi inaugurated the bank amid a programme on Tuesday. He said that oxygen from the bank along with healthcare workers would be supplied immediately to home isolation, hotel-based isolation centre, and institutional isolation of the sub-metropolitan city in case of emergency.
“Now, treatment of COVID-19 patients will not stop due to lack of oxygen,” he said.
