Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has urged the Tribhuvan University (TU) to produce competent human resources with the launch of new academic programmes. The university products must be able to compete in the global market, he underscored.
At a function organized to mark the 63rd anniversary of the TU here Friday, PM Deuba reminded that it is the national responsibility to create a favourable atmosphere to ensure higher education for all classes and communities so that they could contribute to nation-building.
According to him, diversification in education programmes can be an option to retain youths in the country. Their interests and market demand should be studied well for it, PM Deuba underscored.
On the occasion, Minister for Education, Science and Technology Devendra Poudel viewed the human resources produced by the TU in all sectors- politics, administration, education and entrepreneurship. However, the pressure exerted on university management and officials with non-academic and apolitical activities was worrying, he added.
Moreover, the Education Minister viewed the TU could play a significant role in protecting the nation’s history and culture. He expressed commitment that he would extend utmost support to elevate the university’s status. (RSS)
