PM, Ministers’ Dashain Allowances To Be Deposited In COVID Fund


The government has decided to deposit the Dashain allowance of the Prime Minister and Ministers in the COVID-19 fund.

Minister for Communications and Information Technology Parbat Gurung informed that the Cabinet has further urged the State and local levels to follow the federal government’s decision to this end.

Minister Gurung while releasing the Cabinet decisions today shared that government has managed the treatment of all citizens, extended the health structures while free of cost treatment has been arranged for the needy ones, people with disabilities, single women and senior citizens.

Also spokesperson of the government, Minister Gurung shared that the Cabinet has decided to form a Labour court comprising three members.

The court was formed under the chairmanship of High Court Judge Ram Prasad Oli. Other members are Prem Kumar Rai and Nisha Baniya.
Likewise, the government has decided to amend the public procurement work procedure 2073 BS for Nepali missions abroad. The meeting approved Prime Minister Employment programme Operation (First Amendment) Directive 2077 BS, Drugs Registration (Third Amendment) Regulations 2077BS.

The government has transferred special class gazetted officers of civil service to different ministries and agencies.

Also, the cabinet decided to upgrade the current isolation centres into COVID-19 hospital in districts where the rate of infection is comparatively high. Furthermore, a high dependency unit (HDU) will be established in all government and public hospitals, with at least 200 in every province and 2,000 in Kathmandu in the next 15 days. Private and community sectors will be roped in if it is not sufficient.

Likewise, the international entry points closed in wake of outbreak of Corona Virus will continue to remain so until November 15. Furthermore, a decision was taken to give the Chief District Officers the authority to decide prevention and control measures in district with more than 200 and 500 active cases of COVID-19. However, the restrictions applied inside the district shall not be effective for those using the particular district as a transit only.

A week-long training with a maximum of 25 participants will now be allowed.

Minister Gurung also said the government decided to endorse the 5th national action plan on human rights and the Universal Periodic Review report on human rights to be presented to the UNOHCHR.

The cabinet meeting decided to provide social security allowance for first quarter of the currently fiscal year including a monthly allowance of Rs. 2,000 for single women before 60 years of age and Rs. 1600 to people with severe disabilities.
