Police seize substandard paper of JEMC loaded in four trucks

The substandard paper that the Janak Education Materials Centre (JEMC) Limited refused to accept is seized by the Nepal Police after the paper supplier company resupplied the same paper. Centre’s office bearers are charged of working in connivance with the paper supplier to bring back the low quality paper.

Over the issue, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Education Dipak Sharma has sought information with Managing Director of Centre Anil Kumar Jha. However, Jha has said that rumours were spread about Centre and quality of the paper is yet to be tested. Jha has also asked the Ministry to probe into the issue.

Jha said that internal investigations were initiated and discussions with the officials of the Education Ministry are also being held. He added that the security deposit of Rs 50 million of the supplier company would be seized if the latter was involved in wrongdoing.

Nepa: Hima Trade Link Pvt Ltd of Lalitpur is expected to supply 1,500 metric tonnes of paper to the Centre within a week. Earlier in November 2022, the Centre had refused to accept the paper brought by the supplier citing poor quality of the paper required for the printing of Grade 11 and 12 books.

Meanwhile, Spokesperson of the Centre, Chitra Raj Acharya, claimed that no corruption and misappropriation was held on the part of Centre and the company failing to supply paper in time would be fined.(RSS)
