Police use force to disperse civil movement (Photo Feature)

Nepal Police, on Monday, used force to disperse a civil movement against Nepal Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli’s decision to dissolve the House of Representatives.

Clubbed under the banner of Brihat Nagarik Andolan, the march was attended by several apolitical social figures such as Narayan Wagle, Dr. Govinda KC, Rita Shah, Mohna Ansari, Ujjwal Prasai. The march started from Kamaladi and was headed towards the PM’s residence, when after crossing BhatBhateni, police used water canons and later batons to disperse the protesters.

Several members were injured, and at least a dozen are receiving treatment at various hospitals in Kathmandu. Narayan Wagle, a prominent Nepali author and winner of Madan Puraskar could be seen physically reeling under the pressure of the water canons. Several photojournalists were reportedly injured too.
