Prohibitory Order Still In Force In 57 Districts

The government has enforced prohibitory orders in 57 districts across the country.

Authorities across the country are tightening the prohibitory orders in the wake of increasing cases of COVID-19.

They have started tightening restrictions, fearing public negligence that has been leading to an alarming surge in the number of reported Covid-19 cases.

More than a dozen other districts have also tightened restrictions during prohibition orders.

Kathmandu, Lalitpur, and Bhaktapur administrations issued an order last week mandating to conduct training and seminars virtually.

In the previous orders, events were allowed to be held with less than 25 participants.

The latest order issued from August 12-24 also banned public and private vehicles from plying the roads after 8: 00 pm.

Chief District Officer (CDO) of Lalitpur, Dhundi Prasad Niraula, said, “We found people loitering at night, crowding several areas. To prevent such activities, we decided to ban mobility after 8 pm.”

Meanwhile, the District Administration Office, Rautahat has imposed a restriction order to prohibit crowding amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

The administration has stated that the restriction will be implemented from August 15 at midnight until August 31.

As per the administration, open-air markets, fairs, gatherings, parties, and protests have been prohibited during the period. Likewise, a religious or cultural function can be allowed for celebration in a group of no more than 10 individuals.

“As the COVID-19 pandemic is still spreading, we have requested the public to wear masks, maintain social distancing, use sanitisers and wash hands regularly. Crowding of people increases the risk due to which we prohibited it,” said Indra Dev Yadav, chief district officer of Rautahat.

Similarly, public has been requested to not venture outdoors unnecessarily.
