Protect Children From Pandemic: President


President Bidya Devi Bhandari said the state should take the lead role in making the children responsible citizens of the future by unleashing their talents.
In a message delivered on the occasion of the 57th National Children’s Day, President Bhandari asked the concerned authorities to ensure children’s rights by protecting them from pandemic.
Stating that the restriction imposed to contain COVID-19 had affected formal education, President Bhandari showed her concern over the children residing across the remote villages, who were deprived of the facility of online classes.

“The Constitution has ensured the rights of children as a fundamental right. It has guaranteed all-round development of children, including child protection, child development and child participation,” she added.
As per the guidelines of the Constitution, the Children’s Act, 2018 BS has been implemented and significant works have been carried out on issues such as education, health, nutrition and protection of children, the President said.

She further said it was the responsibility of the three levels of the governments, parents, schools and the society as a whole to effectively implement the constitutional and legal provisions regarding child rights.
The President also thanked all the government bodies, national and international organisations, child rights activists, social organisations, private sector, civil society and parents for their role in ensuring safe future of the children.
