The Department of Transport Management has directed the Transport Management Offices to translate driving license in coordination with the province government.
Gokarna Prasad Upadhyay, spokesperson of the Department, said a circular was already issued to the offices not to send licenses to the Department for Nepali translation.
Earlier, the offices, which have been providing Nepali translation services, used to approach the Department for necessary information and assistance.
“Now it is the province to take decision which documents need to be translated into Nepali”, he added.
It may be noted that the Transport Management Offices were handed to the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure under the province government on December 14.
Spokesperson Upadhyay further said the solution should be resolved from province ministry when any problem emerges on Nepali translation service.
Clause 52 of the Transport Management Act-2049 BS has the provision that an authorized person of the Transport Office can issue license to the person having license from foreign countries without any examination. The Department had initiated the service in line with the legal provision since 2017.
The transport offices based in Ekantakuna, Sukedhara, Thulo Bharyang, Jagati, Sunsari, Parsa, Rupandehi and Kaski have been providing services of license translation into Nepali.
