The Department of Transport Management has made it mandatory for the public vehicles’ staffs for wearing face shields along with using other protective materials against COVID-19.
The provision is applied to all the public vehicles operating on both short and long routes.
Vehicle staffs are required to follow the health directives issued by the Ministry of Health and Population mandatorily against the infection such as wearing face masks, gloves and using sanitizers among others.
Likewise, a cabinet meeting on October 12 decided that the public vehicles could have passengers as per their seating capacity and the transport fare has been retained as in the fare adjustment made on September 23, 2018.
With this, the government’s directives issued earlier in view of the risk of Coronavirus for public vehicles to limit the passenger numbers to half of their seating capacity and hike the fare by 50 percent has been removed, said the Department’s Information Officer Dr Lok Nath Bhusal.
“We are monitoring whether the health guidelines have been implemented or not,” he said.
