Irrigation and drinking water projects have been completed in Ward No. 5 & 6 of Sanibheri Rural Municipality of Rukum West which was facing problems of irrigation and drinking water for many years.
After the completion of the project, drinking water has reached every house of Dhanekhola Tole and irrigation facility has reached Ballebas. Dhanekhola Source Conservation and Drinking Water Sub-project and Ballebas Pipe Irrigation Sub-project have removed the problems of drinking water and irrigation after completing the project.
Former ward chairman Lal Bahdur Khatri said people are relieved to get water in their homes as they were facing problems of drinking water for many years and added that the irrigation problems in agricultural land was also removed.
Local leader Bhim Bahadur Kusari said he felt very happy to connect taps in houses after conserving a water source which is more than an hour’s walk away. He informed that all 19 houses of the tole were getting water and pipe irrigation project was also completed which will provide irrigation facilities to nearly 104 ropanis of land.
The drinking water and irrigation project was completed with the help of Adaptation for Smallholders in Hilly Areas Project (ASHA) of Ministry of Forests and Environment. District Co-ordinator of ASHA Khim Raj Oli said that Ballebas pipe irrigation sub-project was completed with the investment of Rs. 1,191,103 from the project and voluntary labour of local community worth nearly Rs. 297,776. Similarly Rs. 711,892 of the project and voluntary labour worth nearly Rs. 177,973 was invested for the completion of Dhanekhola Source Conservation and Drinking Water Sub-project.
Three drinking water and irrigation projects were completed in Ward No. 6 of Sanibheri Rural Municipality. According to Sub-engineer Dhan Singh KC, Kukurgare Irrigation Sub-project, Chhahara Pipe Irrigation Sub-project and Sisnekhola Source Conservation and Drinking Water Sub-project were completed with the capital of Rs. 485,000, Rs. 791,000, Rs.774,000 simultaneously.
Dil Bahadur Khatri, a local, informed that 39 households were benifitted directly and nearly 124 ropanis of land got irrigation facility after the completion of the project. Similarly, 34 households were getting facility of drinking water after the completion of Lisnekhola Source Conservation and Drinking Water Sub-project.
All three sub-projects were completed with joint investment of ASHA project and locals.
