In the geographically remote Chure area of Sarlahi, people have started using stretcher to carry the sick after the vehicles stopped running.
Chure people have been left with stretchers to visit hospitals after the road by the river was blocked by the flood. Ishworpur, Lalbandi, Hariban and Chure area of Bagmati Municipality of the district have been facing this problem.
Balimraj Waiba of Ishwarpur Municipality-12, Pipal Damar, said that it takes more than three hours for 10 to 12 people in a turn to carry a sick person from village to Gharibathan for treatment.
“It is easier to drive from the river in winter, but it is always a problem when it rains,” said Waiba. He added that they have to walk for three hours to reach Gharibathan to take vehicles to reach Lalbandi bazaar for treatment.
The situation is similar in Lamidmar, Phuljor Sheer, Chhodke, Guidung and other settlements in the former Kalinjor VDC of Ishwarpur Municipality, said Waiba.
Narayan Khola of Ward No. 14 and upper side of Ward No. 15 of Lalbandi Municipality have the same problem in bringing someone to the hospital during the rainy season. Lalbandi-14, Narayan Khola Ward chairman Chhenam Singh Ghising said that the daily life of the people of Narayan Khola has been very difficult during the rainy season.
