The Supreme Court has ordered Election Commission and House of Representatives Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota to submit original documents relating to the writ petition filed by CPN-UML Chair KP Sharma Oli.
Baburam Dahal, spokesperson of SC, said, “A joint bench of Justices Deepak Kumar Karki and Dr. Kumar Chudal ordered the EC to submit all original documents regarding registration of CPN (Unified Socialist) and documents relating to Speaker’s decision on punishing 14 CPN-
UML parliamentarians from the Federal Parliament Secretariat.”
Decision as to whether interim order should be issued or not as per Chairman Oli’s demand will be taken only after the files are submitted by the respondents.
Oli had filed writ petition against the EC for identifying signatures of 14 HoR members who were punished by CPN-UML.
Similarly, in his writ petition, Oli has accused HoR Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota of not revoking membership 14 CPN-UML lawmakers including Madhav Kumar Nepal.
Earlier, the Top Court had sought the Commission’s written response on whether the registration of CPN (Unified Socialist) was done by following due process.
