Police have arrested seven racketers involved in lifting motorbikes from different places of the district.
A police squad apprehended the racketeers involved in stealing and selling motorbikes acting on the growing number of complaints on motorbike thefts.
According to the District Police Office Chitwan, the arrested are Bijaya Chaudhary, 28, a permanent resident of Karaiyamai municipality-5 and is currently residing at Kharahani municipality-9, Rakesh Chaudhary, 19, who is currently residing at Bharatpur metropolis-3 and Mahesh Chaudhary, 24, of Kolhawi municipality-7, Bara.
Likewise, other racketeers involved in motorcycle theft were Dinesh Gurung, 26, and Manoj Darai, 25, of Bharatpur metropolis-11. Police have also caught Sameer Chaudhary, 24, and Amrit Chaudhary, 28, of Khairahani municipality-12 who purchased the stolen motorbikes.
The arrests were made based on the investigation into the incidents of motorcycle theft from Bhatbhateni super market, Katahar chowk, Nahar chowk, Powerhouse chowk and Bikram Marga and other areas.
Police said that the police squad seized motorbikes and instruments used in the racket. A legal action will be slapped against them, shared chief of district police Chtwan SP Nantiraj Gurung.
