As road accidents are increasing in Nepal, several people have lost their lives in the past few days, mostly bike riders and their pillion.
An Armed Police Force (APF) personnel died in a road accident after a school bus hit his bike in Kirtipur today during treatment at Bayodha Hospital.
Similarly, a bike rider is seriously injured when his motorcycle and a taxi collided at Imadol, Lalitpur on Saturday night. The 40-year-old bike rider is currently being treated at Kist Hospital.
Meanwhile, three people died and four were injured in separate motorcycle accidents in Sunsari, Saptari and Kailali yesterday.
Earlier, on Thursday, a German national who was riding a motorcycle to head Kathmandu from Narayangadh, died after being hit by a jeep at Phisling.
Driving under the influence of alcohol, trying to overtake the vehicle, mechanical malfunction, speeding, carelessness of drivers, driving with more people than the capacity and violation of traffic rules are some of the main reasons for accidents in Nepal.
An average of 8 people die in road accidents every day in Nepal and 40 people get injured every day.
