Shesh Ghale and Jamuna Gurung donate NRS 30 million to combat COVID-19 in Nepal

Shesh Ghale and Jamuna Gurung, the billionaire couple from Melbourne with roots tied to Nepal have donated NRS 30 million (estimated AUD 384, 570) towards combating the COVID-19 pandemic in Nepal.

The cheque, directed towards Corona Virus Control and Treatment was handed over to the government of Nepal by representatives of MIT Group Foundation on Sunday. MIT Group Foundation is a charitable organisation, and was established in 2015 by Ghale and Gurung. The foundation was also actively engaged during the fallout of the 2015 Earthquake in Nepal.

Ghale and Gurung, co-founders of Melbourne Institute of Technology are a philanthropic couple, who many believe embody the spirit of ‘leading by example’. The donated amount will be used by the Government of Nepal towards tackling the COVID-19 health emergency in Nepal.

“Our donation may be a drop in the ocean,  but it’s a gesture of goodwill to assist and encourage the Government of Nepal in their effort to combat the spread of the Coronavirus in Nepal”, Ghale wrote on his Facebook page.
