The coordinator of the government formed a talks team and the Secretary at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Minister Dr Ganesh Prasad Pandey and Prof Dr KC signed the agreement.
With the agreement, Prof Dr KC has ended the hunger strike from today itself by taking juice from Sarita Chaudhary, a patient’s attendant in Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital.
As agreed, doctor’s posts would be maintained in the government hospitals as per the number of hospital beds across the country, Geta Medical College would be run in the district of Kailali, a draft bill for the amendment to the legal provisions would be tabled in the upcoming House session to end appointments of clash of interests.
Likewise, appointments of office-bearers in academies and universities would be made in a transparent way by making a certain standard while Medical Education Commission would be written to submit a report seeking concrete recommendations to gradually convert the medical teaching institutions into non-profit and service-oriented institutions.
Putting forth his demands for reforms in the medical sector, Prof Dr KC had started his hunger strike in Dhangadhi of Kailali. He was admitted to the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH) of Thursday after his health condition deteriorated. (RSS)
