The Kathmandu Valley Development Authority (KVDA) has ordered the removal of the unauthorized structures constructed by encroaching unused public and government land.

Issuing a 35-day notice on Wednesday, the authority has ordered to remove structures constructed on unregistered land on the bank of rivers.

The development authority has said that removing such illegal structures will facilitate the reconstruction, development and expansion of the cities in the Valley and for making it systematic.

The Authority warned that it will be compelled to remove such structures if the owners concerned do not do it themselves and the cost incurred while demolishing and removing the structures would be recovered from the owner individuals and institutions.

The notice comes amid a tense situation and clash between the Kathmandu Metropolitan City Police personnel and people from squatters settlement along the Bagmati River in Thapathali area.
