Tourists Flock To Dudh Kunda, Tsho Rolpa Lake


The number of internal and external tourists has increased in the famous Dudh Kunda and Tsho Rolpa glaciers areas in the northern part of Dolakha.
The number of tourists visiting Tsho Rolpa Snow Lake, Dudh Kunda and Rolwali Range located in Rolwaling area of ​​Ward No. 9 of Gaurishankar Rural Municipality has increased. Tourists reach here via the Dudh Kunda-Tsho Rolpa tourist trail.

Hotelier Bolendra Acharya of Surmuche informed that 30 to 40 tourists have been entering the area daily since September.
He said that he was happy to see an increase in the number of tourists in the area as hoteliers were hit hard by COVID-19 crisis.
To reach Tsho Rolpa, tourists need to drive to Dolakha’s Chhotachyot and then take a three-day trek to Ghatti.

Tsho Rolpa and Dudh Kunda can be reached via Simigaun, Surmuchche, Kalche, Dogang, Thangthing, Weding and Naa village.
Chhiring Sherpa, ward chairperson of Ward No. 9 of the Rural Municipality said that as all these places have food and lodging facilities, it will be convenient for the tourists from home and abroad.
He said that the hotels and lodges of this route have been made uniform by adjusting the price.

According to religious beliefs, one has to go to Tsho Rolpa only after visiting Dudh Kunda first.
But the way to Dudh Kunda is not easy and tourists are confused, said Chhering Sherpa, a hotelier from Veding.
Tsho Rolpa Glacier is located at an altitude of 4,558 metres above sea level, while the Dudh Kunda lies at an altitude of about 4,700 metres. At the foothill of the Rolwaling Mountains, these lakes and ponds look attractive and picturesque.

This region is considered suitable for visiting from September to November and from April to May.
This area is considered special for the practice of snow climbers as there are 17 mountains taller than 6,000 metres.
Similarly, Khumbu area can be reached by passing Tasilapcha from Tsho Rolpa.
