Rafting on the Madi River has attracted a large number of tourists. A large number of people gather at Damauli in Tanahun district on the occasion of the Damauli Patan Cultural and Tourism Festival.
Amar Thapa, president of Patan Youth Club, the organiser of the festival, informed that the biggest crowd for rafting was seen on Saturday.
According to Thapa, 5,200 people went for rafting on the River on Saturday alone.
Organisers said short- and long-distance rafting has been arranged in the river in collaboration with Rambo Adventure Nepal Pokhara.
Santosh Thapa, a senior guide, said that the Madi River flows wide and the terrain is small, so it is safe for rafting. It is also convenient for the learners, he added. Thapa said that the number of rafting has also increased due to a large number of viewers at the festival. The cost of rafting starts from Rs. 100 to Rs. 1,000 per person according to distance.
Another guide Asmin Gurung said that it was easy to learn rafting in the River as the flow of water has decreased during this time.
