The Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office (KVTPO) has started a campaign to remove verses from vehicles citing that they cause distractions and led to accidents.
Issuing a statement on Thursday, the traffic police said that they have started a campaign to remove verses which are obscene, unacceptable, demoralising and against the prevailing laws.
“Verses or writings targeting and defaming women, children and marginalised communities is illegal and should definitely not be displayed publicly in public transports,” read the statement.
The KVTPO stressed that the vehicles with such verses, displayed through stickers or painting, should be removed at the earliest or they would take necessary action.
Traffic Police also requested vehicle owners to not paste any stickers in the vehicle’s glasses. They also removed decorative items and music systems installed in the driver’s area. According to the office, the decorations and stickers block views and lead to accidents.
