The Jyantang community forest of Myagde Rural Municipality-2 is now becoming a new tourist hotspot of Tanahun.
Following the construction of a green garden and beautifully designed tree house, the destination draws many footfalls every day. The garden is located at the top of a hill.
The tree house and park was constructed with the financial and technical assistance of the Division Forest Office.
Komal Raj Kafle, head of the Division Forest Office, Tanahun said that the ‘Tree House’ is an example of environment-friendly development, which was done by adopting the concept of replacing plastic, aluminum and cement with building materials like wood, clay and stone to reduce global warming.”
Kafle said the destination needs some additional investment, beautification and basic services should be built for the visitors to make it more attractive.
The Division Forest Office has aimed at developing the park as a source of income, which would help increase employment opportunities for the locals, he added.
The Division Forest Office is mulling over to develop the site as a picnic spot and run the rural economy by promoting tourism, local employment and agriculture and animal husbandry.
It would be appropriate to allow the private or social organisation to operate the park on an annual contract or lease or similar arrangement, he said, adding that the revenue earned from the tree house park would be used for its maintenance and further development.
Manoj Ranabhat, chief of the Sub-Divisional Forest Office, Myagde said the tree house could accommodate 10 people at one time and offer them a serene view.
He said, “The construction of the tree house is recorded as the first-ever tree house built in the whole district, so it will attract tourists.”
The Division Forest Office has provided financial assistance of Rs. 1.25 million.
According to Ranabhat, the tree house park was constructed at a cost of Rs 1.5 million, of which 20 per cent has been borne by the community forest.
A green garden along with a tree house has been built within the community forest area for the purpose of making the place a tourist hub, which is 200 meters away from the Prithvi Highway.
