The Office of Attorney General (AoG) has begun preparation to begin a system for filing cases that are related to the Electronic Transaction Act, 2063 from all 77 districts.
Prior to this, electronic transaction-related cases are being filed and prosecuted only by the Kathmandu District Court.
Speaking at an inaugural session of the Valley Level Crime Investigation Seminar held at the National Police Training Institute Maharajganj on Wednesday morning, Attorney General Khamma Bahadur Khati said that the legal process has already begun and this system will come into effect soon.
AG Khati said that the provision was being implemented soon by amending some Nepal Act 2075 and enabling cyber cases to be prosecuted in all 77 district courts.
“Since there have been requests and responses from the investigation officers and public prosecutors and also from the general public that the cases should be prosecuted from all 77 districts, steps have been initiated to implement it as soon as possible,” said Khati.
Similarly, in order to make the investigation more evidence-based, Khati said that it will be more effective if the investigation officers are trained and a separate ‘special team’ is formed.
