Three people have died, and 12 other sustained critical injuries after a passenger bus plunged into the Trishuli River on Friday morning. The ill-fated bus, registered under Na 6 Kha 7469 was en route Kathmandu from Malangwa, Sarlahi District.

Several passengers have also gone missing, and a rescue effort is being carried out by teams of Nepal Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, and volunteers of Red Cross Society. The injured are receiving treatment at Rajmarga Community Hospital Malekhu and primary health centre in Gajuri.

Police have not been able to ascertain the exact number of passengers in the vehicle, and fear the death toll could rise sharply.
