Two youths from Janakpur Sub-Metropolitan City, Dhanusha were murdered in India after being abducted.
The bodies of 21 years old Rohit Shah and 22 years old Bishnu Shah were found buried in an Indian village, near the border of Nepal on Sunday. The duo had been missing since January 11 after leaving home to visit their relative in Sitamarhi, India.
On January 13, an unknown group of men made a ransom call to Bishnu’s father, Ram Babu, claiming they had kidnapped Bishnu and his friend, Rohit.
The group, calling from an Indian number, asked for a ransom of Rs. 5 million but later agreed on Rs. 2 million.
“They had asked for Rs. 5 million but after borrowing loans, we could manage only Rs. 2 million for the ransom so we talked to them into reducing the ransom and they had agreed,” said Ram Babu.
The family was asked to visit Malangawa, Sarlahi which falls on the Nepal-India border with the ransom. Before making the drop-off, the family had informed the police about the incident.
According to DSP Deepak Raya of the Dhanusha District Police Office, the bodies were found buried in Parsa village, which falls under the jurisdiction of the police station at Sitamarhi district in Bihar, India.
“The family of the deceased has identified the bodies. The bodies will be sent to Nepal after completing the autopsy in India,” said DSP Raya.
Meanwhile, two people from Nepal and three from India have been arrested for investigation on the suspicion of their involvement in the killing but the motive behind the crime is yet to be confirmed, police informed.
