UML Convention Concludes In 38 Districts


The district convention of the CPN-UML has successfully concluded in 38 districts, electing district committee leaderships.
According to Bishnu Rijal, deputy chief of the publicity department, leadership in 38 district committees were finalised by Monday evening.

Talking to The Rising Nepal, Rijal said, “Out of 38 districts, 33 districts have elected leadership through consensus while elections were held in five districts to elect the leadership.”
He said the district convention had been extended in some districts, as the party is trying to elect leadership through consensus.
The process of selecting the leadership of remaining districts is underway, said Rijal, adding that the ongoing district conventions were likely to conclude by Tuesday afternoon.

According to Rijal, Dipak Niraula has been elected as district chairman of Kathmandu; Purushottam Acharya has been elected as district chairman of Lalitpur and Bachan Deuja as chairman of Bhaktapur.
Likewise, leaderships of two special district committees were also selected. Jitendra Shrestha has been elected as chairman of workers special committee and Umesh Dhakal has been elected as professional special committee, he added.

Similarly, the district conventions of Jhapa, Palpa, Dang, Dolpa, Salyan, Bardiya, Banke, Dhading, Arghakhanchi, Morang, Kavre, Gulmi, Khotang, Saptari, Tanahu, Dhankuta, Rasuwa, Nawalparasi, Kapilvastu, Nuwakot, Terhathum, Rupandehi, Lamjung, Panchthar, Ramechhap, Gorkha, Makwanpur, Dadeldhura, Bhojpur, Baitadi, Myagdi, Jumla, Sindhuli, Ilam, Baglung, Solukhumbu and Pyuthan have concluded and elected leaderships.

Sher Bahadur Tamang, UML central committee member, said the district convention has also selected representatives for the provincial convention of the party scheduled to be held on January 22.
The UML district convention kicked off Friday in 62 districts across the country.
