US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Donald Lu is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba today.
The meeting with PM Deuba is to be held in Prime Minister’s Office, Baluwatar on Thursday, according to the Prime Minister’s Secretariat.
Lu has arrived in Kathmandu for a two-day trip. Lu is scheduled to pay a courtesy call on Foreign Minister Dr Narayan Khadka on Friday.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during his stay in Nepal, Lu will inspect the US-funded project, meet with political leaders and visit cultural heritage sites.
Similarly, Deputy Assistant Secretary for South and Central Asian Affairs, Kelly Keiderling is also set to arrive here today.
Her meeting with Nepali officials and emerging civil society leaders has been set upon arrival.
Their visit comes just ahead of the 75th year of diplomatic relations between the United States and Nepal.
As part of US President Biden’s top priority, they will address challenges and issues including COVID-19, climate change, and strengthening democracies.
