Valley citizens prepare to go back to lockdown as Covid-19 situation worsens

A meeting which between the three district administration office’s of Kathmandu Valley which stretched into the late hours of Tuesday night, has decided to issue a prohibitory order starting from midnight on Wednesday.

Initially imposed for a week (midnight 26th August, 2020), the DAOs may decide to stretch the lockdown, as per the situation.

Meanwhile, Kathmandu residents are out and about on Wednesday, hurrying to complete essential work before the lockdown begins.

Lockdown Modality:

All services except essential ones will remain shut within Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur. People will be restricted into their homes, and will only be allowed to go out for supply of groceries, medicines, and other necessary items.

Movement of vehicles except those on emergency duty which include, but are not limited to ambulance, hearse, four-wheelers of security agencies and transportation and delivery services related to drugs and medical oxygen, drinking water, milk, foodstuff and vegetables, cooking gas and garbage will be allowed. Public transport will be banned.

Education institutions, tuition centres, training centres, language classes, party palaces, cinema halls, entertainment centres, salons, beauty parlours, spas, swimming pools, hotels, restaurants, gymnasiums, libraries, museums, zoos and places that attract crowds and gatherings will be banned.

Banks and financial institutions shall have to provide service through electronic means as far as possible. If that is not possible, they may operate essential services by allowing minimum number of employees to the office.
