A youngster hurled a shoe at the co-chair of the ruling Nepal Communist Party Pushpa Kamal Dahal at City Hall in Kathmandu today, shortly after he addressed a public event.
Dahal, however, narrowly escaped the attack. The incident took place when the former prime minister was coming back to his seat after giving his speech at the program held to mark the 1st death anniversary of communist leader Bharat Mohan Adhikari.
The person who hurled the shoe at Dahal has been identified as 22-year-old Ratan Tiruwa from Jumla. Tiruwa is son of a former Maoist combatant.
He has been arrested and kept at Singh Durbar Police Circle. The police have launched a probe into the incident.
Tiruwa said that he threw the shoe at Dahal after he was unsatisfied with the latter’s opinion regarding “class struggle”.
