The 2018 Australian Open men’s finals is today – at 7:30 p.m. (AEDT) (2:15 NST), the 2018. The match will be held at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne.
36 year old Swiss Roger Federer, currently world no. 2 with 19 Grand Slam titles (singles) will be contending with 29 year old Croatian Marin Ciric with one grand slam title to his name.
In nine meetings with Cilic, Federer has lost only once, in the semi-finals of the 2014 US Open, when the Croatian won his only Grand Slam title. Having crushed Cilic in the Wimbledon final last summer, Federer went on to beat him again in the ATP Finals at the O2 Arena in London in November. The two men also practised together last month when they found out, quite by accident, that they were holidaying together in the Maldives.
An enticing and competitive match is expected today at Melbourne. Will Ciric claim his second victory against Federer or will this be the Swiss’s 20th Grand Slam title?
