On Friday, Liverpool finally announced what many consider the signing of the summer, landing midfielder Thiago from Bayern Munich.
It’s claimed that Thiago has joined for an initial €25 million fee, which could rise by a further €5m due to various add-ons.
Soon after the news became official, Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp began gushing over his new signing.
It’s pretty simple: he is – and nobody would see this in a different way – an absolutely exceptional player,” Klopp told a news conference.
“It is difficult to improve the team in a normal way. Again, nothing to do with other teams, but if you take out £300m or £400m then maybe we could find a player, but even then it’s not easy.
“In this specific case, he really brings a different dimension to our game and has some skills that are in general pretty rare and that suits us well. He’s different and that’s what I was very interested in.
