Brisbane, QLD – Five men and a 16-year-old boy have been charged following a violent armed robbery at a jewellery store in Chermside on June 10.
Shortly after 5pm, a group of masked individuals armed with hammers and metal bars stormed the Gympie Road store, allegedly smashing glass cabinets and stealing a large amount of jewellery. A 38-year-old employee was seriously injured after reportedly being struck with a hammer.
The group allegedly fled in a stolen grey Honda CR-V, later found in Berrinba on June 19. Police raids conducted between July 11 and 15 led to arrests and the seizure of items linked to the robbery.
Charges have been laid on a 25-year-old Carseldine man, a 22-year-old and 25-year-old from Goodn, a29-year-old Inala man, a 20-year-old Loganlea man and a 16-year-old boy.
Charges include armed robbery, grievous bodily harm, and child endangerment. All appeared in court this week.
Still at large is a 21-year-old Mount Gravatt man, known to frequent Logan and Inala. Police believe he may assist with the ongoing investigation.
Authorities are also exploring possible links to a similar armed robbery in Lutwyche on May 8.
