Sydney-based Nepali engineer Mohan Dev Bhatt appointed to the Central Coordination Committee of the Nepali Janasamparka Samiti.

Sydney, July 25 – Prominent Nepali social worker, businessman, and engineer Mr. Mohan Dev Bhatt, currently based in Sydney, Australia, has been appointed as a central member of the Nepali Janasamparka Samiti Samanwaye Bibhag (NJSSB) — a key coordination wing of the Nepali Congress Party that connects with the global Nepali diaspora that align with Nepal’s first opposition party Nepali congress.

The announcement was made in an official statement signed by former Prime Minister and President of the Nepali Congress, Sher Bahadur Deuba, who confirmed the appointment under Clause 25(9) of the party’s constitution (2077, with amendments).

“May you succeed in uniting all well-wishers of the Nepali Congress and people of Nepali origin around the world who have faith in the party. Wishing you success in eliminating toxic politics within the organization and in working wholeheartedly for the betterment of the party as a whole,” reads the statement.

The Public Relations Committee of the Nepali Congress, also known as Nepali Janasamparka Samiti, is a global department tasked with mobilizing Non-Resident Nepalis (NRNs) in support of the party’s values and vision. Established in 1976 in Mumbai, the committee currently operates in over many countries around the world, organizing party activities and membership campaigns. Each country has a designated Country Head and team responsible for fostering communication and coordination with the local Nepali community.

In a statement to The Nepalese Voice, Mr. Bhatt expressed his commitment to strengthening party unity and international coordination.

“I want to work towards the unification of our party members spread across the world,” he said. “Especially at a time when the NRNA is plagued with division and blame games, my goal is to reinforce our organizational strength and contribute to the betterment of our home country, Nepal.”

Mr. Mohan Dev Bhatt has been actively engaged in social welfare initiatives within the Australian Nepalese community. He is the founder president of Sudur Paschim Samaj Australia, an organization that played a vital role during the COVID-19 pandemic by extending support to Nepalese individuals both in Australia and Nepal.

Currently, Mr. Bhatt serves as the President of Shree Pashupatinath Temple Sydney, one of the most significant community projects for Nepalese in Australia. The temple promotes cultural unity and encourages people of Nepalese origin to stay connected with their heritage and traditions.

In addition to these roles, Mr. Bhatt initiated the Collect N Educate project — a charitable initiative that supports the education of underprivileged children in Nepal. The program creatively collects funds through the return of recyclable bottles, receiving 10 cents per bottle. Mr. Bhatt was one of the pioneers of this approach, inspiring many others in the Nepalese-Australian community to engage in similar philanthropic efforts.

Mr. Bhatt’s appointment has been welcomed by the Nepali diaspora, particularly in Australia, where he has long been recognized for his contributions to community service and political advocacy.
