UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson is all set to return to work from Monday, a month after he was diagnosed with the coronavirus disease.

He spent a week at St Thomas’ Hospital in London, including three nights in intensive care, after being admitted on 5 April. Johnson had said things “could have gone either way” when he was at the hospital.

Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab, who has been standing in for the PM, said the prime minister was now “raring to go”.

His return comes as pressure mounts to increase testing in the UK and ease the lockdown.

Johnson will resume full-time duties – chairing the regular morning cabinet meeting on Covid-19 before holding talks with senior ministers and officials. However, it is not clear whether he will lead Monday’s press briefing.

The total number of coronavirus cases in the UK has reached 152,840 with 20,732 deaths – among which 33 are Nepalis.
