Hong Kong’s legislative assembly was erupted into violence on Saturday over the proposal of controversial extradition law.

During the chaos, the lawmakers who were for and against the law cursed, pushed and shoved each other, while security officers were finding difficulty to settle the situation.

One person was taken to hospital from the chamber after the scuffle.

The extradition law if implemented, would allow suspects of crime including foreigners to be extradited to mainland China where they could face vague charges. The law has been widely criticized as it would go against “one country, two systems” framework in which Hong Kong had gained the right to retain its own social, legal and political systems in 1997.
