Theresa May steps down as Britain’s Prime Minister

Theresa May, the Prime minister of Britain has announced that she will resign as the leader of Conservative and from the position of Prime Minister.

She will be quitting the Conservative leadership on 7 June but will continue to be prime minister until a Conservative leadership contest takes place. The contest will begin from the following week. The party is hopeful in finding the next leader by the end of July.

In the emotional statement May said “it is a matter of deep regret” that she was not able to deliver Brexit. She ended her statement with crackling voice and tearful eyes.

Following the statement, she has been praised by other leaders for her tireless effort and commitment.
