189 Nepalis succumb to COVID-19 abroad


189 Nepalis have succumbed to the novel coronavirus abroad, as per a report by NRNA.

A total of 28 Nepali died of coronavirus worldwide in the past seven days. According to the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA), among this week’s death, 25 are in India, 2 in the Saudi Arabia and 1 in South Africa.

In a press statement issued from the UK this morning, the NRNA said that Nepali people residing in 38 countries in the world have been affected by the virus and most infections are in Maharashtra of India.

Similarly, 35 Nepalis who attended a family gathering in Luxembourg are also reported to be infected.

In its repatriation efforts, so far, 37,424 Nepalis stranded abroad due to COVID-19 crisis have been brought back to home with the support of the Nepali Embassy in the respective country, NRNA and other organisations.
