Flight number reduces in Gautam Buddha Int’l Airport as Jazeera Airways stops daily flight

Amid a time when Gautam Buddha International Airport, alias Bhairahawa Airport, has already been receiving very low number of flights, Kuwaiti Jazeera Airways has reduced the number of flights they will conduct to/from the airport.

Jazeera had only begun daily flights in Gautam Buddha Int’l Airport from September 16. Before the notice, the company flew three flights between Bhairahawa and Kuwait City at regular intervals every week.

According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN), the company cut down on the number of flights to the airport due to a lack of sufficient passengers and will fly on alternate days from now onwards.

CAAN spokesperson Gyanendra Bhul said Jazeera Airways informed the authorities that it will change the flight schedule based on the availability of passengers. According to him, a lack of medical facilities and labor approval facilities for migrant workers flying to Kuwait was the main reason for the flight cut.

The amount of people transiting through the airport is less than predicted as people still prefer to travel directly from Tribhuvan International Airport due to the ease of medical facilities and other government processes required to travel abroad.
