The number of American tourists visiting Nepal since January this year has been the highest, covering 15.54 per cent of all the foreign tourists that visited Nepal.
A recent statistics on the issue published by Nepal Tourism Board showed 100148 foreign tourists from 35 different countries visited Nepal from January to October this year and of the total, 15565 tourists were from the USA which made up 15.54 per cent of the total and stood as the largest compared to the number of tourists from other individual countries.
Though the number of tourists from India has been significantly higher, the tourists from China and Britain have remained to be among the higher money and time spending category tourists, according to the NTB.
The number of tourists has increased with the government easing the tourist arrival following a decrease rate in the COVID-19 cases.
A total of 23 thousand 284 tourists came to Nepal in October and in September, the number was 9 thousand 9 hundred and 99.
According to the statistics of the NTB, the number of arrival in the months of July and August was 2 thousand 991 and 6 thousand respectively.
Director of Nepal Tourism Board, Mani Raj Lamichhane said that visa on arrival facility offered by Nepal, tourists’ desire for a post-COVID recreational environment, ease in aviation facilities are some of the major reasons that have augmented the arrival of foreign tourists in Nepal. He further added that NTB has been expecting the revival of the hospitality industry in the future.
